If you had told me a few years ago that I would be building websites, managing plugins, and designing user experiences using WordPress, I would have laughed in disbelief.
I didn’t come from a tech background. I had no idea what terms like HTML, CSS, hosting, or SEO meant. But curiosity, determination, and the power of self-learning led me on a journey that changed my life—and it all started with WordPress.
🚪 How It All Began
Like many people, I wanted to create a website. At first, it was just a personal idea—maybe a blog, maybe a small online store. But every time I opened a YouTube tutorial or read a guide, it all felt overwhelming.
I wasn’t a coder. I didn’t study computer science. I didn’t even know where to start.
Then I discovered WordPress.
đź’ˇ Why WordPress?
I chose WordPress because:
- It was beginner-friendly
- No coding knowledge was required
- It had a huge community and tons of tutorials
- Most professional websites used it!
WordPress gave me confidence. With drag-and-drop builders like Elementor, I could visually design a site without writing a single line of code. That was the turning point.
đź› My Learning Process (Step-by-Step)
- YouTube Tutorials & Blogs: I started watching basic tutorials like “How to Make a WordPress Website for Beginners.” I followed along, step by step.
- Installing WordPress Locally: I learned how to set up a WordPress site on my computer using tools like XAMPP or LocalWP.
- Playing with Themes & Plugins: I explored free themes, installed plugins, and understood how they extended the functionality of a website.
- Building My First Website: It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. I created pages, added a contact form, played with menus, and changed fonts and colors.
- Understanding SEO & Speed: Later, I learned about SEO plugins like Yoast, optimizing images, and making websites faster and mobile-friendly.
- Taking Online Courses: I eventually joined an online course to deepen my skills and understand custom post types, ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), and more advanced features.
🌟 From Fear to Freedom
What started as fear of technology turned into a love for building and creating. Today, I can confidently say:
- I can design and launch beautiful websites
- I understand how websites function
- I help others get their ideas online
Most importantly, I’ve turned a hobby into a skill—and even a career.
đź’¬ My Advice to Beginners
If you’re just starting and feel overwhelmed, I want you to know:
👉 You don’t need a tech background.
👉 You don’t need to know how to code (at first).
👉 You just need the willingness to learn.
Start small. Build one page. Make one change. Each step you take will teach you something new.
🚀 What’s Next?
WordPress opened the doors to even more—freelancing, client work, eCommerce, and digital marketing. And now I’m learning even more tools like Webflow, Shopify, and custom coding.
The journey never really ends, but that’s the beauty of it.
đź’ˇ Final Words
From knowing nothing about tech to building full-fledged websites, my journey with WordPress has been empowering. It taught me that with the right tools and mindset, anyone can become a creator in the digital world.
If I can do it, so can you.
